My name is Kerry and I have 4 dogs of my own. I have owned and loved dogs (big and small) all of my life and have a particular soft spot for Golden Retriever’s and I’ve had two that have stolen my heart over the years. That said anything with 4 legs and a tail always brings a smile to my face!
I decided to set up “Let’s Walk” to combine my line of dog walking and the outdoors. I think we lead such busy lives these days that for some of us the moments we can switch off are few and far between. Those moments for me are when I’m dog walking or riding my motorbike (but I’m far too old to consider hitting the race tracks now or trying to make a living out of it)!
I can’t imagine spending my days doing anything else now (ok maybe a warm office on those really rainy days)! Joking aside there’s just something so simple and calming about walking a dog.
From an early age I’ve always had a passion for animals and the unconditional love they show you. They ask for so little in return, just a walk, some food and a fuss. My family used to joke that I would end up running my own rescue one day, but already having 4 dogs of my own and one being a rescue I dread to think how many I would have taken home if I had….you’ve heard about the old woman who lived in the shoe right?!
I have a vast amount of dog walking experience both group and solo and whilst not yet gained any formal qualifications I have spent endless hours with dogs all my life and studied in my own time and I think understanding a dogs behaviour is one of the most important skills you can acquire, and this can only be learnt through spending time with them. Above all I think the most important thing we can learn is so love and respect our animals, and if you remember that you can’t go far wrong!
When I’m not dog walking my other passions in life are my family and motorbikes. Having retired from a long Career it makes you realise that having some “time out”‘or “self care” is very important, as is finding the balance to be able to do the things you enjoy, which is one of the many reasons I set up “Let’s Walk”.
I can promise you that if your dog is in my care it will be looked after and treated as if it was my own. Dogs ask for so little from us but deserve so much and they will be my priority when in my care.
I am currently a trained dog first aider but in the future when time allows I would like to complete my Trainers First Aid Course and share my knowledge as I think being able to deal calmly and treat even the smallest of injuries can lessen the pain, put your dog at ease and ultimately hopefully lessen any vets bills.
I hope I have put your minds at ease. If you have any questions please feel free to what’s app or email me.
I’m really looking forward to meeting you and your dogs.
For now I best get out for a walk with mine! x
